WHAT
ABOUT SHARING A BOAT?
Boats in Los Cabos are chartered to individuals, therefore the price
of the boat, determined by size, is the same whether your party is one
person or the maximum capacity of the boat. For example, a 28-ft boat
holds up to 4 passengers, but if there are just two of you, just your
party plus the crew will be on board.
It is possible at times, to put two parties together to share a boat,
so that less cost is incurred. Pisces is successful in doing this 85%
of the time, when a person or couple is willing to pay for half of a
boat. It is difficult to find single spots on boats and as such, the
only type of sharing we offer, is for a single person or a couple, to
share with one or two others. It should be noted, that the 28-ft boats
are our most requested for sharing.
In order to book a share, we require an $80.00 deposit, which is fully
refundable if we are unable to find anybody to go out with you. If we
do find a share, your reservation is then confirmed and cannot be canceled
without penalties. The more advance notice we have the more likely we
are to find a share, especially via the Internet. If you definitely
want to get out on a boat sharing, you need to send in our booking form,
with your deposit. This is risk free, as you will be refunded if the
share is not found.
Benefits: The cost - if you decide to go out on a 28 ft boat
you would pay $160.00 plus tax, on the bare boat plan, or $230.00 on
the all inclusive plan instead of the full rate. If you love to fish,
by sharing you can often go out twice in the same week, instead of taking
one single charter, for the same cost.
If you are alone this is an opportunity to meet people.
Disadvantages: Seeing as both parties have paid an equal amount,
it can be difficult to decide who gets to catch the fish. At times only
one marlin or gamefish is caught on a trip, so if it is a serious dream
of yours to land one of these magnificent fish, sharing may not be for
you. The way the order of go is decided is by flipping a coin when you
board the boat, to decide who gets the first strike, you then alternate
throughout the day.
One of the two parties may be seasick and want to return to port. Normally
if the boat returns to drop one party off, it is too late to get back
to the fishing grounds, so the day is lost.
You may not like the people you are sharing with and will have to spend
approximately 8 hours with them.
Your views on catch and release may not be agree with those of the
other party. Most of our anglers prefer to release billfish, but keep
smaller game, however by law you are allowed to kill one billfish per
boat per day. Share boat reservations cannot be confirmed. When you
book a share, it is with the understanding that if another party is
not found, your trip is canceled, unless you want to take the whole
boat to yourself at full cost. It is also with the understanding that
full boat charters take priority. For example, if you book a share on
a 28 ft boat for June 3rd and it is our last available boat for this
date and somebody else contacts us requesting the whole boat for this
day, they will be given the boat.
